SUMMARY: Assist with the overall administration of an intramural sports program that offers over 30 sports & activities that attract up to 5,000 participants. The Aquatics Coordinator shall be responsible for the overall management and staff scheduling of the facility ensuring the safety of all swimmers and coordination of all aquatic instruction and recreational swim programs.
Intramurals (67%) • Assist in the interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating of supervisors, officials and office workers. • Assist in scheduling tournaments, leagues and events. • Develop curriculum and measurable evaluation tools for intramural officials’ clinics and trainings. • Assist with training emergency procedures to supervisors and officials • Create and manage weekly scheduling. (Sub-It-Up or When to Work) • Manages scheduling software (IMLeagues). • Assist with program marketing and promotions • Assist with the budget, payroll, purchases and equipment inventory. • Assist with semester participation statistics and annual reports. • Review existing program offering each year, evaluating program according to participation. • Teach courses in the department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology.
Aquatics (33%) • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, directs all Aquatics staff. • Communicates, organizes and schedules Aquatics staff meetings and updates. • Communicates clear and concise information as needed to Aquatics Facility patrons and guests. • Manages the Recreational Swim Program Supervisor and Learn to Swim Program (group and private lessons) • Schedules and administers Lifeguard and Lifeguard renewal courses, Water Safety Instruction Courses, Water Skills In-services, Safety Drills and on-going Aquatics staff training • Monitors safety, security, and risk management for the Aquatics facility. Supervision of the Aquatics Emergency Action Plans, Employee Manual and Incident Reporting. Develop and implement policies and procedures. • Maintain employee certifications for Aquatics staff. • Maintain requirements to be an American Red Cross Authorized Facility Provider. • Monitors pool operations and communicates daily with the Facility Certified Pool Operator. • Works closely with Recreation Manager for Membership and Programming on usage, access and creating new activities in the Aquatics Facility. • Works closely with Facility Scheduler regarding special event staffing and pool orientations. • Maintain proper operating condition of all Aquatics recreation and safety equipment; inform Facilities Management when maintenance/repair is needed. • Maintain an inventory of aquatic supplies and recreation equipment as well as organization of Aquatics storage areas.

Required Education • Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, physical education, kinesiology, sports management, or closely related field.
Required Experience • One to two years of related supervisory experience in an Intramural and Aquatics environment setting with knowledge of a variety of intramural/aquatics programs, events and staff development. (Graduate Assistantship experience accepted) • Minimum three years of experience lifeguarding and swim instruction. • Experience in marketing, including community outreach and social media • Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certification (WSIT) – (If not, this must be obtained within first 90 days of employment).
Desirable Education and/or Experience • Master’s degree in recreation management, physical education, kinesiology, sports management, or closely related field. • Officiating Certification in at least one sport • Active member of the National Intramural-Recreational-Sports Association (NIRSA)
Additional Salary Information: Negotiable Based on Experience and Qualifications (No Less Than $35,000)
