Good Afternoon Colleagues and Friends – The SDSU Wellness Center is offering an exciting career opportunity as an Operations and Events Coordinator. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us late summer 2017. This is a 12 month, full-time position.
This position will administer a comprehensive facility management and customer service function within the Wellness Center. Duties include: coordinating all operational functions; approving all facility scheduling issues; supervising the maintenance and custodial managers; the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of undergraduate and graduate student employees; creating and managing a comprehensive risk management and security program for the department including an EAP; and serving as a liaison with other departments on campus.
The Wellness Center is in the construction process to expand their recreation and fitness space by 37,500 sq. ft. and also renovate 9,000 sq. ft. of fitness and administration space. This project is slated to be complete late fall of 2018.

Master’s Degree in Recreation Management, Sport Management, or a closely related field completed by first day of employment;
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Ability to work as a contributing team member;
Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs;
Demonstrated ability or potential to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials and direct effective programs.
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.
CPR/AED/First Aid certification
Previous management of a collegiate recreation facility;
Demonstrated leadership in developing or leading college student staff;
Demonstrated experience with supervision of full time staff;
Demonstrated collaboration in developing funding proposals to support new and/or enhanced programming;
Lifeguard Certified, Water Safety Instructor and/or CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor
Involvement in the NIRSA organization
