**Provide overall strategic direction, leadership, assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of all campus health education and promotion initiatives. This will involve integrating with various campus departments including Counseling, Environmental Health and Safety, Greek Life, Health Services, Housing and Residence Life, Intercollegiate Athletics, Intramural Recreational Sports, Public Health, and the University Police. **Providing one-on-one health counseling as well as delivering group presentations is an integral part of the job function. The ability to self-direct, balance many projects, and to establish and meet deadlines is essential to this position. **The Assistant Director of Health Education and Promotion will report directly to the Director of Intramural Recreational Sports and will serve as a member of the department’s leadership team.
Essential Job Duties:
Responsible for the development, organization, implementation, evaluation and marketing of a comprehensive & effective health education and promotion program.
Develop and conduct health and wellness presentations to the campus community with primary emphasis to the student body. Act as a resource person for students, the division of student affairs, WKU Graves Gilbert Clinic and academic departments for relevant and up-to-date health education materials, literature, and recommendations.
Independently seek creative new programming and ways to increase the visibility of WKU Graves Gilbert Clinic. Perform outreach education and marketing for WKU Graves Gilbert Clinic on campus and in the community as needed.
Ability to oversee the marketing of the health education programs and services. Inclusive of maintaining an active, relevant, and up-to-date health promotion website; overseeing the creation, distribution, evaluation of the Stall Street Journal publications; and other informative health materials via video editing and social media.
Maintain the Health Education and Promotion program budget to include programming initiatives and operating expenses.
Responsible for recruiting, hiring, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating 2 graduate assistants, 4 interns, 1 student worker, and numerous volunteers for the Health Education and Promotion Program.
Initiate and hold relevant staff meetings (individual and group) for the Health Education and Promotion Program.
Responsible for conducting annual performance reviews on all Health Education and Promotion Staff.
Oversee the Topper Well Peer Health Educators and the Student Health Advisory Council by actively assisting in the recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluating of the student members and the programs.
Ensure the program is compliant with the ACHA’s Health Promotion Guidelines and Healthy Campus 2020 Initiatives.
Distribute and oversee the data collection for program evaluations and ACHA-NCHA surveys. Responsible for assessing the data and developing measurable objectives for programs and services.
Pursue and maintain WKU’s compliance with all relevant legislation regarding student health.
Initiate timely and necessary communication with the Director of Intramural Recreational Sports on any relevant issues.

Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, Exercise Science or a related field.
3-5 years of prior direct supervisory and management duties
3-5 years of professional experience as a health educator preferably in a higher education setting
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or an equivalent certification from a recognized professional health education organization.
Effective organizational, motivational, communication, writing, and public relations skills.
Proven ability to create an atmosphere of sensitivity toward cultural, sexual, religious and racial differences among people.
HIV/Aids Certification or completion of HIV Education and Training Curriculum Preferred
CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications Preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Photoshop and Graphic Design software for marketing materials.
