This position is a primary staff athletic trainer position in the Sports Medicine Section of the Campus Health Service. The Athletic Trainer is expected to provide athletic training services for all students; to act as an athletic trainer for UNC Sport Clubs teams; and to participate actively in the training activities of the Sports Medicine Section, including graduate and undergraduate programs for Athletic Training Students housed in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science.
In addition, the Athletic Trainer will participate in the clinical instruction of the many health care professionals-in-training, Residents and medical students on the Sports Medicine Service and other allied health student that are involved in affiliations with the Sports Medicine Program. Where appropriate, he she will participate in the research activities carried out by the Sports Medicine Program.
This is an academic year ten month position with opportunities for additional summer employment (40/hours per week for 10 months).
The UNC Sport Clubs program has approximately 50 student-run organizations and almost 1,700 annual participants. The position provides on-site coverage for Sport Clubs games, tournaments, and events, as well as clinical services for Sport Clubs athletes. The Athletic Trainer position currently supervises two Graduate Assistants.
The Athletic Trainer will be bound by the Athletic Trainer Licensure Act (G.S. 90-525, 528).
Master's Degree with NATA Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer
Work experiences as an athletic trainer at the collegiate level is necessary to function effectively in this position
Professional CPR certification
Demonstrated experience in the clinical instruction of student athletic trainers
Demonstrated continuing education in advanced coursework
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Two years of full-time experience in an intercollegiate setting
CPR Instructor certification
