Fitness Coordinator of the Student Recreation Wellness Center Plan and administer fitness and wellness programs and services for students and campus community. Directly supervise a comprehensive group fitness program and personal training program.
Responsibilities: Supervise the selection, training, scheduling and evaluation of undergraduate and graduate Wellness Center student staff. Recommend a budget for student staff, future programming, and equipment needs. Planning, purchasing, and inventory of fitness supplies and equipment. Monitor regular maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of fitness equipment and facilities. Ensure safety of participants through risk management policies, procedures, and training awareness. Responsible for effective communication with members of Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Track and maintain statistical data relevant to the usage patterns, and stays abreast of current trends in fitness programming and equipment. Responsible for site supervision and program instruction as needed. Assist the Director of Campus Recreation with effective operations of Student Recreation and Wellness Center year round including break period. Participate in Student Affairs initiatives, staff development opportunities, and serve on committees as needed.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Recreation, Exercise Science or related field. Practical experience working with recreation health/fitness programming required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, required. Willingness to work irregular hours, on-call, evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and possess excellent communication skills.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Recreation, Exercise Science or related field. Current Certification as a Personal Trainer and/or Aerobic Group Fitness Instructor from a nationally recognized governing body (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, etc.). One (1) year experience working professionally in university recreation health/fitness. (Two years of a Graduate Assistantship considered). CPR/First Aid Instructor Certified. Experience working with budgets in university setting preferred.
