This is a professional position responsible for administering a comprehensive departmental promotions and sponsorships programming function within the Campus Recreation Department. Supervises assigned staff, including student and graduate assistants. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Director of Campus Recreation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff, including student and graduate assistants.
Coordinates a comprehensive campus recreation promotions and sponsorships programming function, including producing departmental publications; coordinating temporary signage/bulletin boards; approving facility signage and photography and video filming in recreational facilities; and managing department website and social media.
Generates revenue for the department through sponsorship sales, gift-in-kind donations, and facilities advertisements.
Plans, develops, implements, promotes, and monitors the effectiveness of promotions and sponsorships initiatives including various marketing and promotional efforts to the university and local communities.
Monitors promotions and sponsorships program annual budget and payroll function.
Maintains the in-house electronic messaging system.
Researches and applies new knowledge and techniques to current policies, procedures, and operations.
Serves as liaison to university faculty and staff, student organizations, external vendors, and the general public.

Places work orders when needed.
Purchases equipment when needed.
Serves on university and departmental committees related to the area of responsibility.
Coordinates and/or assists with special events as necessary.
Works evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
One year of related experience is required. Experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, and layout design is required. Experience in the production of printed materials and web services is preferred. Experience working with students in a higher education environment is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred.
