Supports the program director by performing administrative duties related to planning, directing and coordinating both the academic and operational activities of the program.
Develop, promote, execute and evaluate a comprehensive group fitness program of 70+ classes per week, which includes recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating 60+ group fitness instructors, two student supervisors and three student trainers and teaching group exercise classes as necessary.
Implement risk management policies for the group fitness program including responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of Fitness Studios.
Develop, organize, and promote new and on-going group fitness special event programs and services.
Prepare and analyze records, formulate statistical reports, evaluations, participant surveys and data.
Assist in preparation of Group Fitness Budget including equipment purchases, class prices and instructor payroll.
Assist with Campus and Community Wellness programs.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Maintain a nationally recognized Group Fitness Instructor certification.
Teach a wide variety of group fitness formats including instruction, revision, and maintenance of the Group Fitness Instructor training program.
Proficiency with technology including FUSION, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and social media platforms.
Proficiency with fitness equipment maintenance and fitness room sound systems.
Ability to direct, lead and work with a diverse student population.
Understanding of the application of student development concepts, including principles of individual and group behavior, and advising students individually and in groups on routine matters.
Maintain American Red Cross CPR Instructor status.
High School plus six years experience in related field. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
2-5 years of progressive professional experience in the fitness industry, preferably in collegiate recreational sports
Hold 2 or more specialty group fitness certifications: ZUMBA, SPIN, Barre, TRX, Yoga, etc.
Experience and understanding of Collegiate Recreational Sports programs
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Public speaking in the realms of fitness and Recreational Sports
Conduct fitness assessments
Cultivate campus wide fitness initiatives
Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning and implementing short and long-range improvements
