The Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center and Aquatic Programs involves the scheduling, organizing, supervision, and operations of the University Aquatic Center, the Cooke Hall pools, the St. Paul Campus pool and the aquatic programs conducted in those facilities. The Assistant Aquatics Director reports directly to the Director of Aquatics. This position is designed to assist the Aquatics Director in the scheduling, supervision, maintenance, operations and programs of the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center and St. Paul Campus pools. This position shall assist with special event management and be the liaison between the Aquatics program and Facilities Management as well as supervising the Aquatic Facility and Events Coordinator and the Aquatic Program and St. Paul Pool Coordinator professional positions.
Assist in the scheduling, planning and execution of all Special Events.
Identify, plan and execute Aquatic Center capital projects in coordination with Aquatic Director and Department Director.
Assist in the oversight of Learn-to-Swim program, lifeguard program, student outreach and aquatic safety procedures.
Hire, train, schedule and supervise the Aquatic Facility and Events Coordinator position.
Hire, train, schedule and supervise the Aquatic Programs and St. Paul Pool Coordinator position.
Research and direct facility purchases and maintain relationships with vendors.
Assess and schedule work orders for the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center and serve as liaison between Aquatics and Facilities Management.
Hire, train, schedule and supervise Student Equipment Technicians.
Maintain all Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center equipment.
Manage, acquire and negotiate facility sponsorships in coordination with Aquatic Director.
Assist in the planning and management of Aquatic Program Budget.
Serve as activity supervisor, building supervisor, or manager on duty as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Aquatics.
BA/BS with at least five (5) years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal nine (9) years.
Masters Degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or related field.
Seven (7) years of progressive experience in Aquatics facility operations.
Experience with Colorado Time Systems, HyTek Meet Management Software, and DiveMeets.com administration.
American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding certifications.
