The Assistant Manager oversees, provides, and evaluates fitness assessments, personal and group training, private yoga and Pilates, and group exercise classes. This position assists with payroll for personal training staff and group exercise staff. This role oversees and provide training for fitness floor staff and supervisors. The Assistant Manager assists with and provide Lunch & Learn presentations. This role assisst with special events (Wildcat Welcome, University Health & Benefits Fair, Kellogg executive groups, Member Appreciation/Open Houses, etc.).
Please Note: This position requires the ability to work a non-traditional schedule, often including evenings, weekends and some travel as required.
Conduct cardiovascular and strength training equipment orientations with students and members.
Manage the development, implementation, evaluation, and promotion of fitness assessments and consultations with members and students.Educate students and members on fitness programs, services, and opportunities available.
Assist in training fitness floor staff and supervisors on equipment fundamentals and reinforcement of facility policies.
Assist with the design, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of personal training services and private yoga and Pilates.Primarily responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of trainers and instructors. Oversee initial fitness assessments and consultations with clients.Conduct training sessions as deemed necessary with high risk clients.
Assist with day-to-day operations with group exercise classes and private classes.
Oversee and prepare payroll report (biweekly) for personal trainers and group exercise staff.
Conduct on-campus presentations (e.g. firesides, office/departmental workshops, etc.) to promote fitness programs and services to students, faculty, staff and the university community.
Assist with Lunch & Learn Series (act as a presenter and assist with the recruitment of specialized presenters within the medical/holistic/university community).
Assist with special events (Wildcat Welcome, University Health Fair, Kellogg executive events, Member Appreciation - Fall Fitness Fest, Winter Health & Fitness Fest, and National Physical Fitness & Sport Month).
Stay abreast of current market trends and concerns affecting the health and fitness industry.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university with Bachelor's in exercise science or related field required.Master’s degree in exercise science or related field desired.
Minimum 2 years related work experience
National Accredited Certification(s) in Personal Training and Group Exercise
Experience in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise precautions and exercise safety.
