As an integral part of Wellness at ASU, the Assistant Director assists with the planning, organizing and directing of daily operations and staff of Student Activities and Conference Services and the Sun Devil Fitness Complex. The position focuses on planning, developing, supporting, and enhancing university facilities, programs, and activities, bring the community to campus and creating new revenue streams to support university programs. Although this position works primarily on the West campus, the individual in this position will serve as a member of the university wide Sun Devil Fitness management team.

Provides administrative, supervisory and management support for SACS and SDFC operations and facilities which include, the University Center Building;, the SDFC, Verde Dining Pavilion, outdoor malls, lawns and courtyards, and the SDFC fields
Participates in the daily management of all SACS and SDFC staff members. Directly supervises professional and student staff members.
Manages contractual relationships with outside companies and vendors.
Ensures that the planning and implementation of logistical and support aspects of all events and programs occurring in assigned facilities are completed with the highest levels of quality and customer service.
Maintains high levels of communication and cooperation with the Director to provide quality events and services.
Responsible for the proper storage, inventory, maintenance, and replacement of all furniture, fixtures, equipment, audio/visual equipment, and supplies within assigned facilities.
Coordinates all maintenance, custodial, renovation and construction projects in assigned areas.
Provides oversight and management for all technology and audio/visual systems associated with SACS and SDFC.
Maintains the membership management software system (Fusion) for SDFC.
Manages student staff training and development program for SDFC and SACS.
Oversees the sale of memberships and equipment check-out for the SDFC.
Develops schedules for long term maintenance and upkeep of assigned facilities, including budget planning and implementation of work projects.
Ensures that emergency and security procedures and systems for all assigned facilities are comprehensive, communicated, drilled, and current.
Provides the Director with recommendations regarding existing financial expenditures and future budgeting projections, specifically to include revenue generation projections, and ensures that revenue projections are met.
Participates in ongoing discussions to assist the Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) programming team in the development and implementation of an effective campus-wide approach to programming and activities, with the goal of heightening campus engagement.
Manages the unit’s event management (EMS) software.
Assists with the development of the department’s strategic plan and the program/service area work plans.
Provides on-site presence and support as needed during events to ensure coordination of all aspects of the event.
Maintains, manages and produces reports as needed.
Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures for assigned facilities.
Serves as an active member of the departmental leadership team.
Supports SDFC One University mission, vision and functional project management areas.
Advances university and EOSS goals and values.

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Experience in facility management.
Experience working in a college or university recreation environment.
Experience working in a college or university union environment.
Experience managing and developing student staff members, and/or college age populations.
Evidence of effective written, interpersonal, oral and verbal communication skills.
Experience maintaining effective working relationships, presenting to audiences, public speaking, analyzing problems, proposing effective solutions, and effectively delegating responsibilities to staff.
Experience meeting priority deadlines while providing accurate and excellent services.
Experience with any of the following software programs: Fusion, EMS, Lenel Security Systems, and/or Greengate Control Keeper Lighting Control Software.
Demonstrated knowledge in managing, operating, and maintaining audio/visual equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge in managing and maintaining recreational and fitness equipment.
Work in a fast-paced environment.
Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to lift 35 lbs.
Walk throughout campus to make deliveries, regardless of the weather.
Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success.
