The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), University Recreation and Fitness (URecFit) has an opportunity for an Assistant Director of Youth, Family, & Recreation Programs. The Assistant Director oversees the development and operations of various programs such as summer camp, recreation, youth, family, and other related programs. Ensures the delivery of high quality programs through innovative and evidence based program development, effective program management, and quality assurance and evaluation methods. Serves as liaison between the other campus departments and throughout the community.
Oversees the development and operations of various programs such as summer camp, recreation, youth, family, and other related programs.
Develops and schedules camp program work plans in accordance with Maryland State Licensing Guidelines; coordinates activities of camp programs.
Manages the inventory of all camp supplies and equipment to ensure effective daily operations.
Monitors, forecasts, and approves camp program expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent.
Assists with community outreach and fundraising efforts.
Coordinates activities of camp programs with interrelated activities of other programs, departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.
Prepares periodic reports, financial statements and records on camp program activities, progress, status, statistics pertaining to campus participation, or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
Evaluates camp program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action.
Recruits camp program participants and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings.
Coordinates marketing efforts to promote camp programs.
Serves as a liaison with other University departments and outside/community agencies, such as the Baltimore City Mayor’s office, to partner and collaborate on the facilitation of camp program objectives.
Maintains confidentiality of records in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Recruits for, selects, schedules, and trains camp program staff.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field such as elementary education, recreation, student personnel, sport management, sociology, psychology.
Experience: Two (2) years youth programming experience.
Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.*
CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within one month of hire.
Fingerprint criminal background check through Maryland Public Safety and correctional Services, Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) required.
Valid Driver's license with a minimum of two years driving experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
