This position is being created in order to expand the offerings available to students, faculty, and staff for the Outdoor Adventure program. The Coordinator will assist in the daily operations of a comprehensive outdoor adventure program. The coordinator will organize, implement, lead and evaluate selected outdoor activities (trips, clinic, and workshops) and oversee the daily operations of the Basler Team Building & Aerial Adventure Course and Indoor Climbing Wall.
Responsible for the day to day operations of the Challenge Course and Climbing Wall
Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating student employees for challenge course and climbing wall within departmental and University guidelines
Manages outdoor equipment, including inventory, through input and management of recreation management software used by department
Assist with the development, implementation and management of budget for Challenge Course and related Outdoor Adventure programs
Assist with implementation of comprehensive risk management plan for climbing wall and challenge course; including insuring all inspections and certifications for operation are current
Implements marketing, branding, and promotion including daily management of social media, webpage, exhibits, and demos
Assists with Trips program
Assists with short and long range goals for the department of Campus Recreation
Other Duties as Assigned
Bachelor's degree in education, recreation management, sports management or related field
Outdoor Leadership portfolio including a minimum of 200 hours of documented challenge course facilitation, as well as documented trip leadership
One year experience in Challenge Course or Outdoor Adventure with student/graduate assistant and professional experience accepted.
Wilderness First Aid or ability to obtain within first 90 days; Driver's License with safe driving record that meets University policy for driving University vehicles.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master's degree in education, recreation management, sports management or related field preferred. Wilderness First Responder preferred.
