Supervise lifeguards and assist with pool maintenance. Manage the daily activities and special events in the Bell Center and Underground Fitness recreation facilities. This assistantship will provide the student with a comprehensive, hands-on training that further enhances their professional development in the field of recreation.
Coordinate the day-to-day aspects of facility operation and maintenance for all recreation facilities
Coordinate and supervise special events in the recreation facilities
Hire, train, evaluate, supervise, schedule, and complete payroll for lifeguards
Assist with all swimming pool operations, reservations, rentals, and maintenance
Assist with the supervision of Open Recreation Facility Managers, and potentially Open Recreation Monitors
Assist with the coordination of Membership Services, including: memberships, guest passes, locker rentals, and equipment checkout
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire)
American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor Certification (or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire)
National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator (or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire)
Drake University Recreational Services will pay for these certifications
