POSITION DESCRIPTION: Full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. The Assistant Director for Aquatic Events & Operations has major responsibility for recruiting, planning, organizing, and managing aquatic events and overseeing aquatic facility operations (3 pools). Specific responsibilities include: preparing and submitting bids for local and regional aquatic events; preparing and managing event budgets; organizing equipment and event support; serving as onsite event manager; overseeing pool operations; providing direction and support for one full-time Coordinator for Lifeguards and one full-time Manager of Pool Operations; teaching Kinesiology aquatic classes and Red Cross courses as assigned. Significant evening and weekend work is required.
START DATE: January 2, 2018 preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have, as a minimum: a Master’s degree and three (3) years of full-time experience working in a community/collegiate aquatic environment OR a Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of experience; three (3) years of experience organizing and managing aquatic events; 1 year of experience managing aquatic pool operations; knowledge of water chemistry and the mechanical functions of pool operations; supervisory experience; current American Red Cross Lifeguard (LG) and Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certifications; experience using swim meet timing systems and meet management software; strong communication and customer service skills. Preferred: Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) certification, current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification, current NSPF Pool Operator certification; teaching experience

Additional Salary Information: SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience, the range is $65,000 - $72,000.
