Essential functions of this position: Assist the assistant director with the Personal Training and Fitness Assessment Program and the Fitness Center operations, planning and assessment. The coordinator plans, assesses, and coordinates events and wellness programs for students at UNCW.
N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position: -Knowledge of fitness equipment -Extensive fitness industry knowledge [personal training, group exercise] -Teaching skills -Administrative and managerial skills -Supervisory skills -Leadership skills -Effective communication skills -Risk management skills -Emergency management skills
Preferred education, professional skills and experience: -Masters degree preferred in Recreation, Physical Education, Exercise Science/Physiology or related field -Graduate Assistant experience in collegiate recreation programming or 1-2 years recreation programming for a municipal recreation program and related experiences; student personnel supervision at the collegiate level
Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position: -Personal Training experience and related national certification required -Group Fitness Instructor experience and related national certification preferred (ACE, ACSM, or AFFA Certification) -CPR/AED, First Aid certification Blood borne Pathogen CPR/AED, First Aid, Instructor training (preferred) – must obtain within 6 months
