Florida State University is seeking a dynamic, innovative and student development-centered individual for the position of Coordinator for Competitive Sports & Facilities. This position will manage six Competitive Sports facilities for competitive sport games, matches, and events, along with shared space in Tully Gymnasium. This includes the Rec SportsPlex, which is a 108-acre recreational sports facility that includes 21 sports fields, and was the winner of the 2010 NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities national award for excellence in recreational sports facilities.
The successful candidate will provide shared leadership for a comprehensive university-wide recreational program designed for more than 50,000+ students and faculty, and will assist with cultivating and delivering the departmental brand to the entire community. Coordinates, manages, and supervises facility operations of Campus Recreation Competitive Sports facilities, which includes the Rec SportsPlex, Main Campus Fields, Westside Courts, Tully Gym, the Speicher Tennis Complex, and Bill Harkins Field. Responsible for customer service, facility maintenance and repairs. Notifies maintenance team in a timely manner for repairs, field preparations, upkeep and quality control. Coordinates the scheduling and supervision of Campus Recreation programs, facility rentals, and special events. Assists in the development of operational and risk management policies and procedures. Ensures policies are reviewed annually, implemented and enforced. Monitors and collects data for accident and incident reports within the facilities.
Assists with the coordination of capital improvement projects within the facilities. Works closely with the Sport Club and Intramural sports staff on equipment purchases, repair, maintenance and field needs. Manages inventory within each facility. Assists with the development and administration of the annual facility operation budget. Responsible for inventory control, purchasing, invoicing, ordering and receiving of equipment and supplies.
Consults with and responds to daily inquiries from students, student organizations, faculty, staff, alumni, program colleagues, support services and non-university personnel/organizations. Oversees all data collection, assessment and reporting for facility usage on a weekly, monthly, semester and annual basis.
Coordinates the recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and evaluation of the Competitive Sports Facility Student Supervisors, and Field Crew staff. Assists in the hiring, training and evaluation of the Sport Club Program Assistants. Provides leadership in the development of all student staff assigned to the competitive sports facilities.
Serves on various Divisional and Departmental committees as assigned and assists in other departmental activities as needed. Performs other duties that support the mission of Campus Recreation and the Division of Student Affairs as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation/Leisure Administration or related field and 2 years of experience.
Ability to become certified in CPR/First Aid/AED through American Red Cross within the first 6 months of hire.
Master's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation/Leisure Administration or related field.

In the past 10 years, the department has opened and completed an expansion of its 108-acre Rec SportsPlex outdoor sports facility, a 2010 NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities award winner; constructed an outdoor courts facility, the Westside Courts; and opened its Fitness & Movement Clinic, a satellite fitness facility in conjunction with the University's Health and Wellness Center.
