The TAMUCC Recreational Sports Department is looking to hire a Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistant. Ideal start date for Spring 2018 semester- 1/8/17, however will accept applications until position is filled. All candidates must have 1 full academic year of school work remaining, as this position will require both the Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 semesters. If starting in Summer 2018 or Fall 2018, candidate must be enrolled for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019. The Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Coordinator for Fitness & Wellness.
All candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, 3.0 GPA, be accepted into the graduate school, and possess a nationally recognized, NCCA accredited, certification in Personal Training and/or Group Exercise (NASM, ACSM, AFAA, NETA and ACE preferred).
Responsibilities include: Assisting in planning, coordinating, marketing, hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating a comprehensive Fitness & Wellness program staff that includes 12 Group Exercise Instructors, 6 Personal Trainers, and 3 Specialty Class Instructors. Tracking program participation and updating excel spreadsheets. Leading In-Service Trainings to Group Fitness Instructors and/or Personal Trainers. Aiding in budget development and management and in creating and revising employee policy manuals. Working with professional staff to aid in the purchasing, inventory, and maintenance of equipment. Aiding in recreational sports wellness based incentive programs and committees. Additional Responsibilities may be required.
