Function Statement/Summary of Duties: The Director is the chief administrative officer of the Department of Recreational Sports at The Ohio State University, one of the largest universities in the country. The Director provides visionary leadership; champions and communicates department mission, vision, values, and strategic direction; responsible for developing a facility master plan while providing oversight of all Recreational Sports facilities and grounds; manages a budget of over $20,000,000; builds and maintains collaborative relationships with university leaders; serves as advocate for both present and future recreation and wellness needs of students, faculty, staff, and affiliate members; serves on and leads campus-wide committees; represents the department, Student Life and The Ohio State University in national professional associations, surrounding communities, and other university departments; works closely with the Department of Human Sciences, Student Wellness Center, and Athletics to promote student development and enhance the student experience; innovates, creates and ensures vibrant and inclusive recreational and collaborative wellness programming for the university community.

Education / Skills / Experience:
Required: Master's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management or related field; demonstrated leadership in the administration and programming of a comprehensive recreation program in a university setting.
Desired: Proven leadership in the strategic planning, administration and programming of a comprehensive recreation program; record of progressive leadership, supervision and management.; experience and understanding of financial management; ability to articulate the importance of health, recreation and wellness to students, faculty, staff and the university community; active involvement in national professional organizations supportive of professional development in recreation and wellness; knowledge concerning the operation of an aquatics complex.
