The University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill the position of Manager of Sport Facilities (Assistant Director of Facilities) for Campus Recreation. The Assistant Director of Facilities will provide leadership to the Campus Recreation Facilities, consistent with the guidelines set forth by Campus Auxiliary Services and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Responsibilities include planning and administering day to day, short term and long term goals for the department as well as training and supervising professional and student employees. Other responsibilities include: overseeing facility operations for the Student Recreation Facility, Outdoor Fields Complex and Outdoor Courts.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for the management of two full-time Facility Managers as well as the recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of more than 50 student employees. The Assistant Director of Facilities serves as an ambassador for the department and promotes our facilities and services to the UIC community. UIC Campus Recreation is a department within Campus Auxiliary Services which reports through Student Affairs.
Management and Administration
Plan and administer the day to day, short term and long term goals of the department.
Train and supervise professional staff, student staff and graduate assistants (as necessary).
Offer a safe environment for all facility and program participants.
Have a broad understanding of the aquatics and general facility mechanical operations.
Oversee the day to day building operation of the Student Recreation Facility.
Oversee the overall operation of outdoor recreation spaces, including the Outdoor Field Complex and Outdoor Courts.
Work with Student Centers and Physical Plant to maintain the appearance and integrity of the facilities.
Prepare for all planned maintenance and capital projects.
Engage with the UIC community for all matters dealing with facility rental contracts.
Provide customer service to all patrons of Campus Recreation's facilities, programs and services.
Provide input to the development of a viable operating budget for Campus Recreation facilities.
Maintain supplies and equipment inventory and make necessary purchases.
Prepare accurate budget reports. Prepare other reports as requested by the Associate Director and Director.
Enforce all policy and procedures set by the department, unit and/or university.
Actively work to develop and achieve departmental strategic planning goals, particularly in the area of student learning.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Associate Director and Director.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER 1. (A) Bachelor’s Degree in Campus Recreation or Athletics, Sports Management, Business Administration, or closely related field.
(B) Three years of responsible experience in the maintenance and operation of sports facilities (such as intercollegiate, recreational, or intramural facilities), two of which were in a supervisory capacity.
2. One year of experience in the management of sports facilities, in addition to the training/experience required in #1.
