Exceptional opportunity for a Recreation Program Director (Selective Certification - Aquatics) within the Oakland Parks and Recreation Department. The incumbent will provide leadership to community-based recreational programs and activities and assist in the management of a recreation facility or city-wide program. The current position oversees the operation of the Aquatic Park and the pool; promotes membership opportunities to the public; and plans, coordinates and promotes aquatic programs at the facility. The incumbent must possess specialized knowledge of aquatic programs and activities.
SELECTIVE LANGUAGE CERTIFICATION: This is a public contact position. The current vacancy requires bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese or Mandarin. The eligible list for this recruitment will also be used to fill vacancies that do not require bilingual skills. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in recreation or a related field; one year of demonstrated experience coordinating, facilitating and managing specialized aquatics programs and activities; and current Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificates.
