Job Purpose: Provides oversight for a range of extended travel programs offered through Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech (ORGT). Ensures expeditions meet learning objectives aligned with Georgia Techs strategic plan, consistency within expedition programs of risk management protocols, and programs are delivered within a strict budget.
Supervise and directly manage ORGT Expeditions & Adventures programs to include budget administration, risk management, equipment maintenance and repairs, vehicle coordination for trips, and other administrative duties.
Lead expeditions, trips, and/or specialty programs each year.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise qualified ORGT volunteers and staff to lead and coordinate expeditions and international travel programs.
Develop efficient, cost effective systems to support expeditions including outline registration, marketing, purchasing, campus communications, field communications, trip planning, packing, managing and tracking equipment, and managing trip expenses.
Create annual goals for program area(s) and conduct annual assessment of these goals through various means.
Oversight of the Campus Recreation Center climbing wall to include hiring, training, and scheduling climbing all attendants.
Ensure climbing wall operates in line within designated budget and within applicable standards and is inspected by an objective vendor per accepted practices.
Assist with challenge coarse staff training and delivery of corporate level leadership programs along with training, oversight, and management of ORGT volunteer staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Information: This position requires the ability to lead primitive wilderness expeditions in the field a minimum of two times each year. Expeditions involve strenuous physical activity such as carrying backpacks over uneven terrain, paddle sports like sea kayaking and canoeing, sleeping in tents, and traveling in remote areas over difficult terrain.

Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience: Two to four years job related experience
Certifications: Wilderness First Responder Certification, First Aid and CPR Certification
Skills: This job requires working knowledge of the adventure travel industry and the climbing wall industry; experience managing multi-dimensional program activities; presentation, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with train, and supervise student staff; significant teaching and personal experience with a variety of adventure sports; sales and marketing experience; previous supervisory experience.
Preferred Education: Masters degree in Recreation, Education or a training related field
Preferred Work Experience: Five years of experience working in a campus outdoor recreation program or related experience with coordinating wilderness and/or international travel experiences.
Preferred Certifications: Wilderness EMT, AWA Swift Water Rescue, Cave Rescue, Climbing Belay Certification, Challenge Course Facilitation Training, Challenge Course Management Training, AMGA Rock Climbing Site Management Training
