The Department of Wellness is now seeking an experienced professional to lead its Fitness team in the position of Fitness Coordinator at Oklahoma State University. Our fitness program is one of the largest in the country with over 110 group fitness classes offered per week and a personal training staff of over 35 trainers. Our facilities include more than 350,000 square feet including indoor/outdoor pools, cardio/fitness rooms, weight rooms, multipurpose rooms, performance studio, indoor track, climbing/bouldering walls and over 50 acres of outdoor sports field.
Our ideal candidate has a passion for providing exceptional customer service, experience in leading a large fitness program and staff to include Graduate Assistants, Weight Room and Cardio area attendants, Personal Trainers, and Group Fitness Instructors. Applicants should have a minimum of 1 year of related experience and previous experience in overseeing a large fitness program. The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for direct supervision of Personal Trainers (35) and Fitness Associates (60). Work schedule is generally M-F, 8-5 with some nights and weekends as needed.
Responsible for OrangeFit Personal Training Program:
Development of all personal training programming including: 1 on 1 sessions, small group and specialized training offerings
Supervise evaluate, interview, and train all personal trainers
Maintain records and submit reports of participation.
Along with the Assistant Director of Fitness, supervise and mentor the Fitness Graduate Assistants.
Develop and implement activity tracking for faculty, staff, and students including group fitness, Glow Run, Strongest Cowboy, et..
Oversee the OrangeFIT Staff Incentive Program.
Collect data and conduct program assessment for all fitness programming
Supervision of Fitness Associates
Assist the Assistant Director with supervision of fitness associate staff to include hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and training.
Oversee payroll for Fitness Associate staff
Provide logistical support for several OrangeFIT special events throughout the year.
Maintain budget and work within budgetary guidelines to develop programs and services.
Train all fitness staff in CPR/AED and risk management.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation Management, Health Promotion or related field
Experience: 1 year experience managing fitness programs. Experience conducting fitness assessments and developing individual exercise prescriptions. Experience in personal training and group exercise instruction
Certifications: Current CPR/AED; nationally accredited certification in health/fitness and/or personal training.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation Management, Health Promotion or related field
Experience: 1-2 years of professional experience (a completed two-year Graduate Assistantship will be counted as one year of professional experience)
