The Graduate Assistant for Intramurals & Club Sports is a para-professional member of the Department of Recreational Sports & Athletic Facilities staff. They have specific responsibilities for both Intramural Sports and Club Sports. The Graduate Assistant position is a two-year contract; mid-August 2018-May 2020. The recipient will receive a minimum stipend of $13,296 for nine and a half months (mid-August-May), plus full tuition waiver equivalent to in-state tuition to Indiana State University. The recipient will receive an hourly wage during the months of June-mid-August.
The Graduate Assistant’s specific and general expectations and responsibilities are listed below:
On-site supervision at Intramural events and Varsity Athletic events.
Revise rules, policies, and assist with inventory control.
Schedule Intramural Sports Leagues.
Assist with holiday shifts when students are on break.
Manage and monitor Do Sports Easy software for administration of club sports.
Prepare all rules and guidelines for captains, participants, and referees/officials for all Intramural Sports Leagues as well as administering captains meetings and trainings.
Prepare and distribute game schedules to all Intramural teams.
Monitor league roster additions, results, game preparation.
Assist in scheduling, planning, and promotion of special events and tournaments.
Assist with on-site decision making concerning: cancellation due to weather, rescheduling games, ejecting players, spectators & patrons due to inappropriate conduct.
Assist with the ordering of awards, staff shirts, equipment, etc…
Prepare equipment and have equipment accessible for Intramural events/games. (balls aired up, jerseys separated by color, iPads logged in and ready to use, etc.…)
Provide excellent customer service through: interacting with Intramural participants and SRC patrons, promoting programs offered through the Recreation Department, getting feedback when possible and always being visible while working.
Assist with the scheduling and training of all sport referees/officials.
Assist with all recreational sports and varsity activities as requested.
Prepare fields/courts when needed. (This includes set up and take down)
Inspect all on-site facilities on a daily basis, documenting any problems and presenting these problems to proper individuals.
Enforce SRC, Intramural and Rose-Hulman rules and policies when a patron breaks them.
Assist with the updates to the SRC and Intramural manuals.
Assist with the supervision of work-study students. (30-50 Intramural staff & 100 Sports & Recreation Center staff)
Become certified in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding
Assist in supervising marketing staff of 4 students and maintaining social media sites.
Assess Intramural program and its employees.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, which will satisfy the graduate entrance requirements of Indiana State University.
