This Graduate Assistant (GA) position will be responsible in assisting with the management of the Kelly Family Sports Center and the outdoor athletic/recreation fields and courts at Grand Valley State University. The position is a 2 year commitment, with the requirement of being accepted into a GVSU master’s degree program. This position comes with a stipend of $4,000 per fall and winter semesters and a waiver for 9 graduate credits per semester. This position expected start date would be August 1st, 2018.
Acceptance into a GVSU Master’s Program
Related work experience in facilities management, campus recreation, collegiate/professional athletics, or other related field
Student supervision experience
Supervision of student staff to operate the welcome desk at the Kelly Family Sports Center (KTB)
Includes hiring & training students, management of point of sale system, and oversight of welcome-desk policies
Maintain open recreation and track times for facilities, updating scheduling software as needed
Assist the Assistant Athletic Director in daily tasks to operate designated facilities
Kelly Family Sports Center, Lubbers Stadium, Baseball Stadium, Softball Stadium, Tennis Courts, Rec basketball and roller hockey courts, Soccer Stadium, South Athletic Complex recreation turf
Perform facility walk-throughs on a regular basis to maintain organization and cleanliness
Act as event manager for designated events
Indoor NCAA track & field meet facility coordinator
Act as a liaison and provides excellent communication with other departments on campus, i.e. custodial, maintenance, grounds, etc.
Assist the Assistant Athletic Director with projects
Assist with general maintenance and upkeep of equipment and facilities
Work 1 night shift per week, and also 1 Student Building Supervisor shift in the Recreation Center per week Required to work 20 hours per week
