The Department of Campus Recreation at East Tennessee State University is seeking three (3) graduate assistants for the following areas: Fitness & Wellness, Sport Programs, and Facility Operations. The goal of our graduate assistantship program is to foster the development of up-and-coming recreational professionals by immersing them in a hands-on recreational facility. Graduate Assistants will gain knowledge in their primary program area, as well as student employee management and development, leadership theory, and risk management.

Bachelor’s Degree and acceptance into an ETSU Graduate Program; One (1) year of experience working in collegiate recreation department, recreational program or related; Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid or ability to obtain during first 30 days of employment; Preferred qualifications listed in each job description
Tuition & Compensation
Tuition waiver (eligible for both in-state/out of state students); Minimum Stipend of $7,600 for academic year; Funding for professional development including NIRSA sponsored state, regional, and national events and conferences; Opportunity for hourly summer employment.
Reporting to the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness, the Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistant will assist with the comprehensive planning and coordination of Group Fitness. Personal Training, and Wellness programs.
Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of Group Fitness instructors and Personal Trainers
Assist in the creation and implementation of schedule for Group Fitness classes
Maintain and update social media, program boards, and website information within departmental and University standards and assist with creation of print publications to promote Fitness/Wellness events
Assist the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness in scheduling and hosting continuing education courses and non-credit instruction classes such as fitness certifications and workshops
Assist the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness in creating a comprehensive special events calendar that includes lifting competitions and themed group fitness classes
Collaborate with campus partners to create and implement wellness related events
Maintain paperwork, spreadsheets, filing, and participation counts with regards to Group Fitness and Personal Training
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Sport Programs, the Sport Programs Graduate Assistant will assist with the comprehensive planning and coordination of a comprehensive Intramural Sports and Sports Club program. ETSU has two (2) Sport Programs Graduate Assistants. For 2018-2019, we are seeking to hire one (1) graduate assistant in Sport Programs.
Assist with recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of intramural staff including officials, program assistants, and supervisors
Assist in officials’ clinics, training and evaluation for flag football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and softball
Assist in administrative functions for the intramural program including: overseeing IMLeagues, league and tournament scheduling, and conducting assessments and evaluations
Collaborates with fellow Sport Programs Graduate Assistant in planning and managing intramural special events including: kickball, dodgeball, inner tube water polo, wallyball, and ultimate
Supervises assigned sport club teams and assists in maintaining a master schedule of activities for club sport program
Supervises home competitions and assist clubs with completion of travel and roster paperwork
Assists in advising clubs and club officers by coordinating and conducting training programs
Maintain and update social media, program boards, and website information within departmental and University standards and assist with creation of print publications to promote Sport Programs events
