The Intramural and Club Sports Coordinator is responsible for offering a comprehensive intramural, club sports, and summer camp program. This position provides active, inclusive and diverse program offerings to the campus community which are physically wholesome, mentally stimulating, and socially sound. Out-of-class learning, a sense of community, and student involvement needs are met through diverse competitive, recreational, and leisure activities.
Provides intramural recreation opportunities for campus community including, but not limited to: student organizations, residence halls, faculty/staff and commuter students.
Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, discipline and evaluation of Intramural officials, supervisors and score keepers.
Oversees all operations and program offerings of the intramural sports, club sports and summer camp programs.
Responsible for scheduling orientation sessions and trainings at the beginning of each semester, sport season and periodic in-service training throughout each semester.
Develops and implements detailed officials training program and evaluates officials to ensure proper progression and development.
Conducts Intramural captain and participant meetings prior to beginning play.
Responsible for developing and enforcing all intramural sports, club sports and summer camp policies and procedures including all forms, waivers/releases, score sheets, participation records, etc.
Develops, publishes and disseminates rules and regulations for intramural and club sports programming.
Performs administrative tasks such as student payroll, collecting fees, scheduling staff, facility/equipment maintenance logs, expense reports, etc.
Oversees all operations of the Equipment Room including, but not limited to, recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating and disciplining staff.
Assists in the development of budgets for the intramural, club sports and summer camp activities.
Advises intramural and club sport participants as necessary.
Prepares Intramural and club sports calendar of events for each semester, Intramural Activities Handbook, and Club sports handbook.
Publicizes and promotes intramural, club sports, summer camps programming to the campus and local community.
Prepares and reports monthly, semester and annual data for participation in intramural, club sports and summer camps.
Responsible for purchasing and maintaining awards, equipment, supplies, and other items needed for intramural, club sports and summer camp programs.
Reports maintenance needs for intramural facilities when necessary.
Ensures all staff are certified and trained in emergency procedures and skills required for their position.
Responds and reports all accidents that occur in intramural, clubs sports and summer camp activities.
Creates, implements and assesses summer camp programming for the university and local community.
Communicates regularly with the Associate Director by providing updates of current programs, services, facilities and operating budgets.
Bachelor’s degree is required.
First Aid, CPR, AED Certifications are required.
Individual must possess good communication and computer skills.
A valid driver’s license.
Additionally Desirable Qualifications:
Master’s degree in the area of Recreation, Sports Management, Higher Education or related field is preferred.
Previous experience overseeing intramural, club sports, and/or youth camps in a campus recreation or higher education setting is highly desirable.
CPR and First Aid Instructor certifications are preferred.
