The department of Campus Recreation at Towson University is a high energy, dynamic organization with a mission to offer recreational opportunities promoting the development of student leaders and healthy lifestyles through physical activity and experiential education.
(1) Graduate Assistant, Competitive Sports-Intramural Sports The Graduate Assistant, Intramural Sports will provide administrative support to the Competitive Sports professional staff, assist with the overall administration of the Intramural Sports program and provide onsite supervision of night and weekend activities. Areas of responsibility will be focused around student employee supervision and development of 40+ student employees and scheduling. Reports to the Assistant Director, Competitive Sports and Coordinator, Intramural Sports.
(1) Graduate Assistant, Facility Management The Graduate Assistant, Facility Management will support the day-to-day operations of Campus Recreation facilities including management of the Equipment Room and supervision of 25 student employees, equipment check-out operations, equipment inventory and maintenance, and laundry room management . This GA will use various facility operation software on a daily basis to complete tasks. The position will also assist with the coordination of informal recreation, student employee training, facility maintenance, and other facility operations duties and projects as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director, Facilities Management.
(1) Graduate Assistant, Facilities and Safety The Graduate Assistant, Facilities and Safety will provide facility and operational support for facility access, the safety program, and event supervision. This GA will aid in coordinating and teaching ARC CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer-First Aid Certification Classes and will provide oversight, supervision, and direction to the safety program including student staff interviewing, orientating, supervising and evaluation as well as administrative processing of all courses. This GA will provide assistance in maintaining appropriate levels of access control to all Campus Recreation facilities. This GA will also provide event supervision as it relates to facility safety and access control including monitoring and maintaining access and security systems, employee supervision, and risk management during various event reservations. Reports to the Associate Director – Facility Operations.
(1) Graduate Assistant, Fitness The Graduate Assistant, Fitness will take on a leadership role for Fitness Operations. Responsibilities will include supervision of 55+ fitness floor attendant student employees, scheduling, hiring, equipment orientations, trainings and evaluations. The GA will provide assistant in the management of the brand new 22,000 sq. feet of fitness activity space, including a Ninja Warrior style fitness course, fitness equipment & maintenance. Reports to Assistant Director, Fitness.

Meet and Greet at 2018 NIRSA Conference
Towson University Campus Recreation will not be scheduling formal interviews during the conference. Candidates interested in learning more about the assistantships may attend one of two informal “meet and greet” sessions with the hiring supervisors on Tuesday, March 6 from 1:30-2:00 p.m. and2:00-2:30 p.m. Meet outside of the Career Services Center and look for the staff dressed in Towson University gear!
Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and successful admittance to Towson University graduate program.
Experience Previous experience working in Campus Recreation, specifically as a supervisor or program assistant in respective program area of application is preferred.
Skills Applicants must be highly organized with effective time management skills; must be able to work in a fast paced environment; must possess strong written and oral communication skills. Applicants must also have a current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification.
Additional Salary Information: Annual stipend of $6,000 and a full tuition waiver for up to 12 credit hours per semester. 20 hours/week required with ability to work 5 additional hours per week paid hourly and upon approval of supervisor. Anticipated start date in early August, 2018.
