The Assistant Director of Campus Recreation position in the Campus Recreation Department at UNC Asheville is to provide leadership in the operations of aquatic programs and facilities, and to assist with informal recreation and associated programs including special events, youth and family, and facility rentals. The Assistant Director will serve as the liaison with facilities management and athletics to coordinate maintenance of the pool and other facilities when needed. The employee in this position will provide assistance to the overall operations and staffing issues of the Department facilities, services, staff, and programs in the Student Recreation Center and Sherrill Center fitness room daily.
Master’s degree. Bachelor’s degree with significant equivalent experience may also be considered. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
One year of management experience in a recreational/sport/aquatic facility as a professional or as a graduate assistant, internship, or like experience is preferred. Certifications and experience preferred includes:
Lifeguard Instructor Certified or willingness to get certification prior to start of job
Certified Pool Officer or willing to become a CPO
Instructor certified in CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain certification prior to start of job
Water Safety Instructor Certification or willing to obtain one prior to start of job
Student learning outcome assessment, analysis and implementation
Strong computer software knowledge including Excel, EMS, Shlage security, and website updates.
