This position will assist in the coordination of day-to-day events in Maclellan Gym and memberships for the department. Responsibilities include:
Responsible for the coordination, staffing, and scheduling of operations that operate in Campus Recreation, including Maclellan Gym and the Aquatics and Recreation Center; working with intramural staff to operate the intramural programs; assisting departments that use Maclellan Gym and the Aquatics and Recreation Center.
Collaborating with the department in membership initiatives, including marketing.
Assisting Student Development in year-round programming, such as orientation, welcome week, social events, and campus groups that wish to use Maclellan Gym of the Aquatics and Recreation Center.
Recruiting, hiring, and supervising student staff
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field is preferred. Must have managerial or supervisory experience of student staff; must have marketing or social media experience; must have experience with building maintenance. Must have certifications in CPR and First Aid. Must have computer skills; budget skills; scheduling skills.
The UTC Campus Recreation Department is a student oriented and student lead organization that is a part of the UTC Student Development division of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Its only mission is to serve the students, faculty and staff of this University in all their recreation needs. The department will use recreation as a tool to develop our students physically, socially, and mentally into more productive and capable citizens.
To accomplish this mission, the UTC Campus Recreation Department will use five major programs to reach our students.
