University Recreation at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for Graduate Assistant positions in the following areas to help them achieve their mission to serve the campus community by providing a diverse selection of recreational opportunities and facilities, which are designed to enhance the quality of life for each participant:
Fitness Programs: Graduate assistant will assist with administering and supervising fitness and wellness programming for UREC members in the primary areas of group fitness, personal training, small group training and inclusive recreation. This GA also assists with financial and participation reports and manages assigned staff. GA must possess current personal training certification and group fitness primary certification from one of the following: ACSM, ACE, NSCA, or NASM. Marketing & Public Relations: Graduate Assistant in Marketing and Public Relations will assist with the execution of marketing tactics and programming, customer retention initiatives, and special events. Specific duties include video and print media productions, social media execution, website content management, and promoting special events, as well as assist with program financial and participant reports. Outdoor Recreation: Graduate Assistant in the Outdoor Connection Center is responsible for the management of employees in the rental center, climbing wall, bike shop, and trip programs. In addition, this GA will maintain climbing and bouldering wall equipment and facilities, coordinate and lead weekend and extended outdoor educational trips, and assist with program financial and participant reports. Qualifications: All Graduate Assistantships require a Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into the University of Arkansas Graduate School and pursuit of a graduate degree in the College of Education and Health Professions. Preference is given to candidates in the following majors: Higher Education, Recreation and Sport Management, or Kinesiology.
Compensation: Graduate Assistants receive a $13,600 stipend annually plus tuition waiver (fees excluded) and professional development stipend (pending funding) for a minimum of 28 work hours per week. Each Graduate Assistantship begins July 1, 2017 and concludes June 30, 2018 with the option to renew for a 2nd year.
