This is a full-time, non-exempt, twelve-month position. The Coordinator of Recreational Services is responsible for the operational, administrative and programmatic aspects of the recreational sports program including intramural and extramural sports, facility management and informal recreation, as well as serves as a member of the Student Life team. Responsibilities include the following:
1. Actively participates in all college activities which lead to student retention and completion 2. Coordinating, organizing and implementing student recreational and intramural programs. 3. Overseeing the Recreation Room, Spirit Room and Intramural Field, as well as handles approving and scheduling reservations for those spaces. 4. Recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating the student assistants for the Recreation Room, Spirit Room and Intramural Program. 5. Scheduling and supervising the recreation room tournaments, including but not limited to billiards, table tennis, video games and dominoes. 6. Developing and overseeing all written and digital materials for policies and procedures to develop comprehensive and user friendly resources. 7. Supervising appropriate use, inventory, storage and purchases of all recreation room and intramurals equipment. 8. Developing internal media plan for intramurals and recreation programs, as well as maintaining and updating information on website and social media outlets. 9. Collecting and analyzing data for all recreational programs. 10. Assisting in planning, budgeting and monitoring expenses of recreational and intramural programs. 11. Traveling with teams to various NIRSA or other intramural tournaments. 12. Assisting with overseeing and handling advertisements for My TJC Radio in Rogers Student Center. 13. Developing collaborative recreational programs with the Coordinator of Student Life. 14. Assisting with New Student Orientation, Extended Orientation Programs, Preview Days, Homecoming and other student life events, as needed. 15. Assisting with TJC Summer Camps Programs, as needed. 16. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director for Student Life.
1. Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management, or related field required. 2. Experience in the areas of recreational sports officiating and programming. 3. Must be flexible as this position requires evening and weekend hours in addition to regularly scheduled work shifts. 4. Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing. 5. Must be able to be independent, respect confidentiality, problem solving, and maintain courtesy in dealing with students, faculty, staff and visitors. 6. Experience in health and wellness programming within the college or university setting preferred. 7. Experience in training and evaluating student employees preferred. 8. Active Involvement within NIRSA or affiliated organizations preferred. 9. Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid preferred.
