The Associate Director of Campus Recreation provides comprehensive leadership for the daily management and operations of all recreational facilities, including Aquatics, Fitness, Intramural and Club Sports, and the Campus Waterfront. The Associate Director oversees the development and implementation of all policies and procedures, ensure sound fiscal operations, and supervise professional and student staff. The Associate Director works across the campus community as well as the City of St. Petersburg to ensure that a diverse and engaging array of programs and events are offered to the university and local community. This position reports to the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and supervises four professional staff members and one graduate assistant.
Establishes and implements short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for Campus Recreation, monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement. Ensures efficient operations and mitigate liability risk through the proper maintenance of all Campus Recreation facilities and equipment, including boats, docks, pool, and boathouse facility, the fitness center, and outdoor recreational facilities. Ensures safety and legal compliance in all recreational facilities, activities and programs, including the evaluation of patron skill levels, monitoring weather conditions, guidance of proper boat usage, ship-to-shore communications, and search-and-rescue operations as needed. Oversees the scheduling and maintenance of recreation facilities.
Serves as Campus Recreation liaison with institutional offices including; Office of Budget, Accounting and Financial Services, Housing and Residential Education, Dining Services, Facilities Services, Development, USF Athletics, and Human Resources to ensure efficient operations and delivery of services. Serves on University committees as needed.
Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates all Campus Recreation facility and operations staff, including professional, graduate and student employees. Ensures that staff have all necessary, required and appropriate licenses and certifications.
Maintains inventory of all Campus Recreation equipment,vessels, supplies,tools, etc. Provides administrative direction for building and facility maintenance and inventory. Develops plan for purchase and replacement of equipment for programmatic and facility operations.
Develops and executes plan to staff, market and create programs to facilitate an increase in the utilization of facilities and services and to facilitate revenue generation. Initiatives to include classes, camps, excursions, and other activities utilizing equipment, vessels and facilities. Provides general oversight of all functions to ensure efficient operations and a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Ensures sufficient revenue is generated to support overall budget for campus recreation programs.
Develops and implements assessment plan for campus recreation programs, events, and services. Assessments to include learning outcomes associated with activities and customer satisfaction. Evaluates all programs and services, analyzing market and industry trends, usage, and performance measures. Develops and implements new and/or modified programs and services reflective of health and fitness trends and student and USFSP community needs.
Other duties as assigned to assist in achieving the mission of the Division of Student Affairs.
