The Facilities Program Specialist (Coordinator) provides leadership, vision, and supervision to the daily operation and management of the Student Recreation Center and auxiliary facilities. The Coordinator is responsible for personnel management and training of approximately 50 student staff. The position is also responsible for staffing student personnel for the main facility and providing supervision for Campus Recreation fitness classes, and university-scheduled activities, classes, and events in CSU auxiliary facilities. The Coordinator works collaboratively with other areas of the department, the Division of Student Affairs, and throughout the University to enhance fitness facilities and programs.
The position hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; some weekend hours dependent on University calendar, area requirements, or department events. During break periods the position hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On-call for personnel and building emergency situations.
Required Job Requirements:
Master’s degree in Sport/Recreation Management, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical/Health Education, Student Development, or a related degree
Two years of work experience in recreation center operations
Experience supervising employees
Experience developing and leading educational trainings
Preferred Job Requirements:
Direct personnel management experience of student staff: recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and disciplining
Work experience at an institution of higher education
Experience with facility management software (e.g. Connect2)
Budget development and budget management experience
Demonstrated organizational skills, oral, and written communication skills
Fitness center personnel and operational management experience
Experience with programming or service delivery for diverse community populations
American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Instructor certification
