This position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation. Campus Recreation exists to provide opportunities for out-of-classroom learning. Specifically, Campus Recreation works to create and implement transformational learning experiences that allow not only for health and wellness but also to develop marketable career skills in our alumni. Campus Recreation employs approximately five professional staff members, four hourly staff members, one or two graduate assistants, and up to 100 student staff members.
This position serves as a full time professional member of the USFSP Campus Recreation staff. The primary purpose of the position is to supervise the daily operations of Campus Recreation Programming that includes Fitness, Aquatics, Marketing and departmental risk management. Core functions of the position include training, development and supervision of student and graduate student employees, fiscal program management and record keeping.
Promote a safe and welcoming Campus Recreation environment that offers programming for all students. Supervise, train, coach, educate, and evaluate staff members. Regulate, schedule, and oversee day-to-day usage of programs with a focus on patron safety, guidance, and assistance. This includes evaluating patron skill levels, monitoring weather conditions, and guidance of proper equipment usage. Manage existing and create new partnerships across campus to develop new collaborative programming in and outside Campus Recreation.
Administer all aspects of Risk Management and Campus Recreation programming to include curriculum, scheduling, training, assessment, marketing, registration, record keeping, emergency action plans, and reporting. Utilize appropriate University business systems to prepare documents and manage workflow.
Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, schedule and coordinate hourly instructors who lead and instruct Campus Recreation programming, American Red Cross courses, and events for all skill levels.
Administer assessment, evaluation, record keeping and mitigation of risk for Campus Recreation programs. Ensure patrons' safety in all aspects of Campus Recreation and its related equipment and facilities. Work closely with University Administration to minimize all related risk management issues. Monitor, recommend, and report accordingly.
Promote the overall Campus Recreation program at USFSP. Support the Student Affairs philosophy surrounding student growth and development. Perform other related duties as assigned.
