Graduate Assistant – Communications & Marketing (Social Media and Analytics)
We are seeking a graduate student who enjoys being creative and innovative. They will provide direct management of the Campus Recreation website and social media profiles and conduct data analysis that will be used to inform strategic decisions. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Communications & Marketing and assists with the mentorship and development of student designers, photographers, social media managers, and videographers.
Create, develop, proofread and manage content for departments’ website.
Manage day-to-day activities of Social Media marketing.
Create artwork or serve as photographer as necessary.
Provide mentorship and supervision to student staff.
Assist with editing and proofing artwork designs of student staff.
Assist with the development of staff meeting agendas and trainings.
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, public relations, business, communications, advertising, graphic design, digital media, sports management, kinesiology, leisure studies, recreation, educational leadership or higher education administration or similarly related field.
Enrolled in a degree seeking graduate program at UTSA.
Successful completion of criminal background check.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, SnapChat etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios. *Must provide handles of existing, managed accounts.
Experience with Social Media management tools.
Experience with popular content management systems.
Experience with analytic techniques and web-analytics.
Excellent written and language skills and the ability to work with diverse groups.
Working knowledge of Apple and PC platforms.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud. Primarily Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom. Premiere a plus.
Experience and working knowledge of various DSLRs.
A minimum of five (5) work samples that are original or in collaboration with others. This may include a link to an online portfolio, jpg versions of artwork, links to a blog or website you manage, etc.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation•$16.35/hour @ 20 hours/week •50% of health insurance premium paid.•Financial assistance provided for professional development conferences/workshops. •UTSA is unable to provide out-of-state tuition & fee waiver.
