The Graduate Assistant will assist in the management of Rental Services (Gear Central) and Fitness Center (The Core) for Campus Recreation Services.
Assist in the selection, training, supervision, and development of student staff for assigned areas
Manage POS software and all associated rental controls at Gear Central, including locker control and maintenance
Supervision of merchandise inventory and lost and found systems
Assist with the management of The Core fitness center, including daily operations, supervision, safety and risk management, and policy enforcement
Maintain and submit daily shift reports
Submit work orders and service requests as needed
Assist and respond as appropriate to member feedback and internal operating systems review
Assist with departmental special events as needed
Assist full-time staff in-service and training meetings
Evening and weekend work required

This is a nine month position, 20 hours/week with a $15,000 stipend, tuition waiver, and renewal after successful first year. Professional development funding and summer employment is available.
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education or sports related field
Acceptance into the University of Utah Parks, Recreation and Tourism graduate program
Minimum of one year experience in campus recreation programs including operations, personnel supervision, or management
GA must have a 3.0 grade point or higher and have taken the GRE, GMAT or LSAT
Demonstrated ability to lead and learn and proven capacity to effectively communicate with guests, staff, and colleagues
