UCLA Recreation invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Competitive Sports Coordinator. We seek an individual with proven leadership experience capable of working in a team atmosphere and comfortable managing a large workload. The Competitive Sports program offers an array of intramural and extramural leagues and activities, a multi-tiered club sports program, martial arts and sports classes, a comprehensive employee and student officer training program and field management. The Competitive Sports Coordinator reports to the Program Director of Competitive Sports.
This position will play a vital role in the training, development, and supervision of our student participants, student officers, employees (both students and coaches), and volunteers, including the development of extensive training sessions and materials (both in-person and online). This incumbent will have primary responsibilities related to club sports, intramural sports and sport classes. Which could include, but is not limited to, working with the student officers and employees related to these areas to ensure policy is followed and that they are successful in their efforts, facility reservations, travel policies, officials training and more. Finally, this position will share responsibility with the other Competitive Sport Coordinators for rotating evening and weekend supervision of intramural and club sports events. It is estimated that this will occupy roughly 60% of the individual’s time.
This position will work heavily with our club sports student leaders on planning, coordinating, and supervising both on-campus and off-campus club sports activities. Coordination of events will include pre- and post-meetings with student leaders, as well as working with campus partners to insure events are safe and successful. It is estimated that this will occupy roughly 20% of the individual’s time.
Lastly, this position will have responsibilities for the unit’s marketing materials and program development and will liaise with the Department’s marketing unit to meet our goals. This will include advertising upcoming intramural, extramural, and club sports events and activities, as well as collecting and promoting the results and accomplishments. Significant development and maintenance of the unit’s website, Facebook pages, newsletters, and other social media outlets is needed. It is estimated that this will occupy roughly 20% of the individual’s time.
