The successful candidate will provide shared leadership for a comprehensive university-wide recreational program designed for more than 50,000+ students, faculty, and staff, and will assist with cultivating and delivering the departmental brand to the entire community. Develops, implements, and leads Campus Recreation’s member recruitment, engagement and retention strategies. Oversees all aspects of member services, which include students, faculty/staff, spouse, alumni, retirees, affiliate memberships, and specialty interest groups. Develops new opportunities to engage members and to encourage new and continuous memberships. Organizes and coordinates the outreach and acquisition of new memberships. Coordinates with Marketing to develop new semester and annual membership drives and campaigns to increase membership sales and provide consistent communication to Campus Recreation members and patrons. Works with other Campus Recreation program area directors to develop faculty/staff outreach programs or promote existing membership and program opportunities.
Collaborates with Coordinator for Fitness Facility Operations in the recruitment, selection, hiring, and training of Campus Recreation fitness facilities customer service staff. Mentors and supervises OPS staff and performs performance evaluations as necessary. Supports facility operations during special events that occur during and outside of regular facility hours. Serves as an emergency contact for facility issues related to safety and security.
Maintains all aspects of current membership database. Responsible for locker rentals, towel service, assisting patrons with program registrations, and assisting other departmental staff with equipment checkout, towel service, and retail sales. Serves as staff resource for customer service issues related to membership or the member experience in general. Communicates regularly with members regarding facility matters.
Serves as primary departmental resource for Recreation Management software. Utilizes technology and assessment skills to audit membership data to ensure accuracy and completeness. Troubleshoots basic software and hardware to membership and point-of-sale system. Develops contingency plans for the continual operation and customer service experience in the event of a technological failure. Assists with the input of online membership and registration information. Assists department with software access, configuration, and utilization of software. Coordinates with Associate Director on related technology needs and makes recommendations on purchases and resource allocation.
Provides financial stewardship required to achieve budget goals. Ensures accurate processing of all membership sales and renewals completed by OPS staff or online. Oversees and maintains guest pass and payroll deduction programs. Works collaboratively with Payroll Services to resolve issues that may arise. Maintains records of participation, revenue generation and expenditures and assists with annual budget submission. Implements and maintains credit card transaction and cash handling policies and procedures in compliance with University Controllers Office.
Coordinates assessment for member services. Assists with creation of surveys for member satisfaction and facilities and programs. Uses information to assist department with facility and program improvements and retention of members. Reviews data and produces biweekly reports, which include the number of memberships sold and revenue generated. Responds to special requests for reports. Serves on department, division, and/or university committees and projects. Collaborates with University faculty/staff on joint efforts. Performs other duties that support the mission of Campus Recreation and Division of Student Affairs.
