The University of South Florida's Department of Campus Recreation is housed within Student Affairs and employs 29 full time employees and 400+ part time employees. The main Campus Recreation Center houses about 25,000 square feet of fitness space, four group fitness studios, and more than 350+ pieces of strength and cardiovascular fitness equipment. The department also manages two satellite fitness facilities boasting another 30,000 square feet of fitness space.
Position Summary: The Satellite Fitness Center Coordinator is a new position that will report directly to the Assistant Director, Fitness and work collaboratively with two other coordinators within the fitness programmatic area to provide administrative leadership to the departments on-campus satellite fitness centers and related programming. The WELL Fitness Center (opened April 2017) and is located on the USF Health side of campus. The FIT is currently under construction and will be an amenity located within the new University Housing complex (scheduled to open October 2017). Some evenings and weekend supervisory and training hours required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide primary administrative oversight of both satellite facility operations, student staff and related programming; provide in-direct supervision of 1 full-time maintenance technician
Develop, implement, and evaluate policies/procedures and risk management strategies for satellite fitness facilities; responsible for management, operations and maintenance of facility access and equipment control software, building security, and associated training of student staff
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and terminate (when necessary) fitness staff (student OPS) and program assistants; assists in supervision and leadership of internship students and Graduate Assistant
Develop, plan, and implement fitness programs, special events, awareness weeks, and incentive programs
Collaborate with entities from both USF Health Student Services professionals and University Housing staff to provide for the consistent, comprehensive, and high quality recreational fitness programs and services for patrons utilizing the satellite facilities including programs for special populations, non-traditional students, faculty/staff, and community members
Monitor daily usage of program participation; record and prepare statistical data for reports and future program development
Research, recommend, maintain, and inventory fitness related capital equipment including scheduled repair and replacment
Operate within budget to meet staffing, programming, and equipment needs; Develop budget projections for OPS staff, future programming and specific equipment needs; Assist in the preparation of departmental budget for assigned areas
Participate in Student Affairs and Campus Recreation Departmental initiatives and complete other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or other allied health degree with at least one year of experience working professionally in health/fitness setting in a supervisory role. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor degree requirement for this position.
Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Exercise Science or other allied health degree with at least one year experience working professionally in university recreation health/fitness setting (two years of a graduate assistantship can substitute for one year of experience); Group Exercise Certification and the ability to teach multiple group formats (e.g Yoga, Pilates, Cycling, Kickboxing, etc). One of the following certifications: ACSM EP-C, ACSM CPT, NSCA CPT, NASM CPT or ACE CPT; experience in fitness education, training, and program planning.
