The Coordinator of Membership, Educational Programming and Facility Services reports to the Director of Campus Recreation and is responsible for facilitating effective daily operations at the Member Services Desk to meet the needs of the campus community. The Coordinator of Membership, Educational Programming and Facility Services assists with the operation and administration of the Student Recreation Center, serves on-call for evening, weekend and holiday facility operations on a rotating basis; coordinates educational programming with the Student Health Center and University Counseling Services to promote Truman’s career readiness program; and assists with other Campus Recreation programming activities and special events. Some responsibilities will require evening and weekend hours beyond the normal workday. This is a twelve month, full-time position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate Member Services Desk services:
Facilitates safe and effective daily operations using detailed processes and regular communications.
Hire, train, schedule and supervise Desk Clerks; develop and implement student staff training curriculums; update student employee manual and maintain training records; plan and participate in regular in-service training for student staff; provide effective leadership, mentoring and empowerment for student staff.
Maintain and update daily access databases, interacting regularly with ITS, ID office and Human Resources.
Maintain and update membership records.
Maintain and update space reservation system; coordinates one-on-one meetings with event organizers to determine event needs, scope and event specifics; provide special event instructions as needed for student staff.
Maintain and update locker rentals records.
Prepare and make daily/weekly cash deposits; maintain deposit records; prepare invoices and back charge forms.
Promotes the Student Recreation Center and creates initiatives to increase revenues.
Coordinate educational programming for Truman’s Career Readiness program.
Serve on the Career Readiness Oversight Committee.
Work with University Counseling Services to plan and implement positive psychology workshops and on-line programming to meet the requirements of the career ready certification program.
Work with Student Health Center to plan and implement health education workshops and on-line programming to meet the requirements of the career ready certification program.
Create and implement Campus Recreation education workshops and on-line programing to meet the requirements of the career ready certification program.
Keep records of student participation in the career ready programming provided by the Student Health Center, University Counseling Services and Campus Recreation.
Market and promote health promotion programming eligible for the career ready certification program.
Provide office management and record keeping support.
Maintain student employee files.
Answer telephone and in-person inquiries.
Promotes and provides event management services for special events and activities occurring in the Student Recreation Center.
Process electronic time cards for all student employees.
Prepare requisitions for all departmental needs.
Assist with designing and developing publicity and promotional materials; assist with maintenance of department website and social media accounts.
Assist with department and division-wide programs and initiatives.
Assist with developing and implementing strategic and assessment plans.
Review records for compiling semester and annual reports; conducts user satisfaction surveys and needs assessments.
Use interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with other university offices and personnel.
Maintain affiliation(s) with organizations to seek out knowledge, training and experience.
Develop personal and professional development plan to enhance knowledge and skills.
Demonstrate a commitment to the Missions of Truman State University, Student Affairs, and Campus Recreation.
Perform routine assignments and special projects as assigned by the Director of Campus Recreation;
Assist with other Campus Recreation programming activities as needed; serve on university committees as assigned.
Assist with facility operations by serving on-call for evening, weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis.
Perform all responsibilities in a professional, courteous and respectful manner.
Demonstrate ethical, legal and professional conduct and behavior in compliance with University and Student Affairs policy and procedures at all times.
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in recreation, health promotion or related area. One year of facility experience may be substituted for an unrelated degree field. Experience in designing and implementing health related educational programming. Must possess a strong commitment to the development, welfare and empowerment of students as patrons and employees; excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Other desired characteristics include initiative and self-direction; a commitment to ethnic and cultural diversity; knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal management; full-time and student staff supervision; and planning and service delivery systems. Computer experience with Microsoft Office applications. First Aid/Adult CPR with AED certification (or must be acquired within three months of employment); certification must be maintained throughout the period of employment.
Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in recreation, health promotion or related area. At least one year facility operations or management experience at the professional or graduate assistant level. First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Training status. RCRSP (The Registry for Collegiate Recreational Sports Professionals) or CRSS (Certified Recreation Sports Specialist) status through the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association preferred.
