Description: Under the direction of the Director of Campus Recreation and Fitness, the Graduate Assistant for fitness and wellness is directly responsible for the administration, supervision, and growth of a thriving Fitness and Wellness Program and assigned special events. Duties include but are not limited to: recruit, hire, train, evaluate, oversee, assess and schedule group exercise instructors and personal training staffs (i.e. supervisors, attendants, personal trainers); ensure completion and compliance of all group exercise instructors and personal trainer staff certifications; teach group exercise class(es) if assigned and be readily available as a substitute if necessary; develop and oversee group fitness instructional workshop programming (for students, members, faculty and staff); program design and supervision of Student Recreation Center Personal Training Program; provide fitness, nutrition and body composition assessments as needed; and assist in student development programs. The candidate will ensure compliance with all TAMUK and TAMUS policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Position comes with a scholarship to cover tuition, and stipend up to $13,000 (10 months) or $15,600 (12 months). Must complete 18 credit hours each academic year and maintain good academic standing with the Department of Health and Kinesiology and College of Graduate Studies.
