West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Student Affairs invites applicants for the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Intramural Sports. Reporting directly to the Director of Campus Recreation, this position will be responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and daily operations of all aspects of the West Chester University intramural sports program. This individual will be a key team member of the Campus Recreation Department, which provides intramural sports, group fitness, small group training, personal training, fitness, informal recreation, outdoor adventure pursuits programming, special events, and club sports.
Develop and administer a comprehensive intramural sports program.
Supervise one Graduate Assistant.
Conduct semester performance evaluations of graduate assistant.
Supervise student intramural staff in the Student Recreation Center (SRC) and other appropriate facilities or areas.
Organize and facilitate all intramural captains’ meetings and officials’ clinics.
Provide on-going evaluations and assessments of the intramural sports program.
Develop an annual budget for intramural sports program.
Provide program reports (i.e. participation numbers, injuries, incidents, etc).
Develop and implement an effective marketing plan to promote the intramural sports and extramural sports.
Develop and implement participation tracking system for intramural competitions and events.
Oversee the inventory and maintenance of intramural sports and informal recreation equipment.
Develop, train, and implement Risk Management protocols for intramural sports and informal recreation.
Schedule and coordinate all intramural leagues and tournaments, as well as, extramural sports competition during the week and on weekends.
Work evenings and weekends as needed.
Divisional responsibilities as required.
Attend departmental staff meetings and other functions as required.
Attend state, regional, and national conferences in recreation, when approved, to foster personal, professional, and departmental growth.
Assist with other Campus Recreation programs as assigned.
Capacity to work effectively in a University environment including its programs and services, requirements and procedures, and the overall mission and goals of an educational institution.
Ability to work independently to create effective programs and services that serves the West Chester University student community.
Ability to train, supervise, develop, and coordinate staff including skill assessment, process management, risk management, conflict resolution and negotiation.
Experience with budgets, risk management procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and time management skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs; including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook.
Professional skills and vision necessary to assist in managing a complex administrative program and to relate that program to the recreational needs of the participants.
Professional involvement and competence/credibility as demonstrated by active participation in professional organizations, membership in University/College committees, and/or involvement with educational programs related to recreation and leisure studies.
Membership in the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
Master’s degree. Recreation Administration, Athletic and Sport Administration preferred.
Three years of professional responsibility in Recreation Supervision and Programming.
