Purpose of Position: This position is responsible for coordinating the “WellU®”, student wellness incentive program at WKU and managing the marketing and promotion program for the Intramural Recreational Sports department.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: The following duties are customary of this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Coordinate with Health Education & Promotion and various campus partners to provide a comprehensive online schedule of health and wellness programs and services for WKU students.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a graduate assistant for Student Wellness who will assist with the implementation, marketing, coordination and assessment of the student wellness program.
Oversee and maintain the WellU® student wellness program website including content and design.
Assist the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness with the WellU® student wellness program budget.
Develop, coordinate, and assess a comprehensive marketing and promotion program for the WellU® student wellness program.
Coordinate the WellU® incentive program including the procurement of incentive prizes, the documentation of winners, and coordination of scholarship awards.
Coordinate the Annual Student Health Fair.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student workers, interns or volunteers for the WellU® program.
Coordinate with Wholesome program by providing a comprehensive online schedule of health and wellness programs and services for WKU students.
Act as a resource person for students, faculty and staff for all relevant and up to date health education and promotion materials and literature.
Assist with stewarding the J. Clifford Todd professorship in Longevity and Healthful Living Endowment which funds “WellU®”, student wellness program.
Develop, coordinate, and assess a comprehensive marketing and promotion program for the Intramural Recreational Sports department.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a graduate assistant for marketing who will assist with the development, implementation, and assessment of a marketing plan for the Intramural Recreational Sports department.
Coordinate the Intramural Recreational Sports departmental participation in WKU recruitment and information fairs.
Adhere to existing WKU brand standards, maintain department’s brand identity and overall creative graphic design work, including design, production and oversight of materials.
Assist with the management and maintenance of the department website including but not limited to accuracy, relevance, structure, strategy, and future directions.
Coordinate the development, publication and scheduling of video board marketing materials in the Preston Center.
Coordinate the social media presence of the department including the development and maintenance of a departmental mobile application.
Coordinate the development, completion and procurement of departmental marketing printing jobs with local and regional printers.
Assist the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness in the development, implementation and maintenance of a complete annual marketing plan and budget.
Participates in campus marketing programs and committees which further the mission of the Institute and the Intramural-Recreational Sports department.
Develop a campus wide network that further supports Intramural-Recreational Sport marketing.
Facilitate and schedule regular marketing meetings with program staff.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of graphic artists and marketing students to assist with the departmental and student wellness marketing efforts.
Independently seek out relevant professional development opportunities.
Initiate timely and necessary communication with the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness on any relevant issues.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
Do health related presentations as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness
Assist with necessary office duties as required.
Develops and cultivates relationships with various university and local community departments and organizations.
Assists in the development and implementation of departmental and divisional special events when requested.
Assists in the development and implementation of departmental and university strategic and assessment plans.
Assist the Assistant Director, Health Education with the administration of the ACHA National College Health Assessment.
Assist with the development of departmental risk management, marketing, membership, customer service, and staff development plans.
Serve on university committees and workgroups as assigned/needed
Minimum Training & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Marketing or related field.
1-2 years’ professional experience in marketing and promotion.
1-2 years’ professional experience in health promotion on a college/university campus.
1 year professional experience working in higher education or related field.
CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications
Note: Serving as a Graduate, Teaching, or Research Assistant will be considered as Professional Experience
