JOB PURPOSE: The Associate Director for Operations is responsible for the overall leadership of the Welcome Center, Aquatics Center, Informal Recreation, Operations and Climbing Wall. It is directly responsible for the supervision of two full time professional staff, as well as serves as the lead for the department risk management and access control policies. Directly supports Director of Campus Recreation, serves on the Campus Recreation Executive Team and provides leadership and education to staff.
35% - Essential - Operations Leadership: Directly responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the professional and student staff in planning, organizing and executing all phases of Campus Recreation operations facilities, services and communication to the community. Responsible for the development and execution of departmental access control and risk management policies and procedures. Serves as the primary Certified Pool Operator for the department, as is responsible for the maintain safe and sanitary aquatic facilities for the university.
35% - Essential - Strategic Management: Provides leadership and management to ensure the strategic direction, values and standards of the department and division are upheld. Anticipates issues and areas for improvement of services and delivers sound resolutions. Ensures that all informal recreational opportunities meet current trends and are in line with departmental and divisional strategic plan.
15% - Essential - Collaboration: Role models leadership as a senior member of the department and division and collaborates effectively to deliver the highest level of services, programs and facilities possible within the given resources. Develops strong working relationships with university partners necessary for the success of this area.
10% - Essential - Training: Develops training and professional development to enhance the experience and growth of professional staff and student workers while positively impacting the environment of all departmental areas. Reviews training plans for all areas supervised to ensure consistency of language and alignment with department priorities.
5% - Essential - Outreach: Serves effectively on department, division and University committees, work groups and teams to enhance the image, reputation and student experience at Clemson.
