Description: Reporting to the Director of Campus Fitness and Recreation, the Assistant Director-Competitive Sports serves as a key member of the Campus Recreation and Fitness management team and is responsible for all aspects of the department’s comprehensive competitive sports programming, including risk management, policies and procedures, scheduling and event planning, student staff supervision, hiring, and training, marketing and promotions. The Assistant Director-Competitive Sports assists the Director of Campus Fitness and Recreation with the fiscal and strategic planning, outdoor facility management, assessment, and daily business operations of a comprehensive competitive sport (Intramural and Club Sport) program. Experience in training and developing official. This candidate will ensure compliance with all TAMUS and TAMUK policies and procedures, and the optimal candidate will be eligible for faculty status in the Department of Health and Kinesiology and teach EDKN 1308 (Intramurals and Officiating).
Bachelors Degree from regionally accredited university. Two (2) years of prior experience in competitive sport (i.e. Intramural and/or Club Sport) management. Previous officiating experience. - Bachelors Degree = 4 years of Experience, Master's Degree = 2 years.
Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of collegiate competitive sport programs. Experience in training and developing sports officials, managers and supervisors. Proficiency in computer scheduling software such as IMLeagues, Microsoft Office and web base financial reporting.
Master Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a related field (Exercise Science, Sport Business, Sport Management, Coaching, etc.).
Experience in competitive sports (i.e. Intramural and/or Club Sports) management. Prior experience in training officials and student worker recruitment. Current official for high school sport(s) or higher.
CPR, First Aid, AED instructor training certification. Professional registration and involvement with the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association.
Experience developing and leading university competitive sports programs.
