This individual will manage and develop Special Events and Wellness Initiatives for our department, while taking a role in the daily operations of our three fitness centers. This position is responsible for the development, management and supervision of the Recreational Sports & Fitness wellness programs. This position works with partners across campus to help coordinate all special events for Recreational Sports and Fitness, including our Welcome Week events, late night programs, and wellness education initiatives. The Fitness Coordinator also acts as evening supervisor, and manages the day to day operations of the Fitness Center during the busy evening time period, including supervision of staff, financial transactions, member issues and membership sales and service. This position will serve as Manager on Duty at least two shifts per week and occasional weekends.
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, Fitness, Nutrition, Health Education or related field required. At least two years professional experience in an institution of higher education or another field directly related to the function of the position. Experience in Group Exercise, Personal Training and/or Wellness Coaching desired. Current CPR and AED certification. At least one nationally recognized and accredited Group Exercise, Personal Training or Wellness certification. Positive personal projection of health and fitness lifestyle practices. Good written and verbal communication skills.

These include the Jacobs Fitness Center which includes not only the fitness center but also a separate strength and conditioning room for Varsity Athletes; the Reeves Aquatic Center, which is comprised of two swimming pools; Bender Arena, made up of four basketball/volleyball courts and adjacent outdoor facilities including an outdoor track, outdoor tennis and basketball courts. The Sports Center facilities are multi-use by design and provide space for Varsity Athletes, Intramurals, Club Sports, academic activity classes and group exercise classes as well as general student workouts and recreation. The Sports Center has approximately 10,000 members, including primarily students, with smaller groups of faculty, staff, alumni and community members, with daily average usage of 1,400-1,600 people. We also manage Cassell Fitness Center and Congressional Fitness Center. Cassell is approximately 8,000 square feet of fitness and multiple purpose studio space. Congressional is 1,000 square feet and primarily used for personal and small group training.
