The Associate Director of Campus Recreation, under general direction, administers, supervises, and oversees a comprehensive campus recreation programming focusing on the administration and operations of Marketing, Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Youth Summer Rec Camp, and Fitness/Wellness programming.
Creates departmental calendar of programming for distribution and serves as department liaison for programming associated with University initiatives and collaborations with cross-campus partners to provide coordinated, innovative, and mission centered student programming.
Oversees all equipment purchasing, inventory, and maintenance for assigned programs and units.
Administers and supervises all aspects of assigned programs and services and confirms monthly program evaluations and reports are complete for long term and short term goals.
Oversees contract and student payroll compliance (departmental, University, State and Federal) for assigned programs and units. This includes setting/approving rate of pay for student workers, approving hours, contract labor agreements, and contract & payroll processing.
Develops, implements, and monitors budgets and makes budget recommendations for assigned programs and units as well as assisting Director with the creation and presentation of Student Service Fee request and presentation.
Oversees the management of and develops procedures related to customer service feedback, surveys, and data; while assessing the data and implementing results.
Serves as department lead in assisting Director with the formulation of scholarship committees; allocation of resources; evaluation of applicants; and Alumni and Honoree relations, fundraising, and purchases
Collaborates in the maintenance of Campus Recreation Mission Statement, Vision, and Core Values for use in quantitative analysis of current and future programs and services in order to develop new initiatives, maintain adequate membership base, and meet the needs of various target populations. Serves as department lead in the assessment of mission statement and yearly goals through Institutional Effectiveness documentation and analysis.
Meets, monitors, and supervises Assistant Directors and student employees; and coordinates regular and annual work appraisals and evaluations.
Manages day to day operation of the Campus Recreation Marketing Services Unit, including budgeting, payroll, scheduling and training of staff, and coordinating all marketing requests and distributions as well as oversee the Reach software platform, creation of graphic art, and liaison with the Marketing Communications department to certify all marketing and promotional material meet University branding standards.
Collaborates with Senior Associate Director to develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive risk management plan for assigned units.
Oversees and directs staff in the development and management of department wide student and staff development initiatives, programs, and services, including but not limited to: student staff banquets, all staff training, student leadership series, graduate assistant training, student staff manuals, and evaluation and implementation of learning outcomes assessments.
Coordinates and oversees student travel procedures and protocols for travel and documenting and cataloging all departmental student travel associated with competitions, conference attendance, professional training, and staff development.
Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Eight (8) years of experience in recreational sports programming with a minimum of five (5) years of experience overseeing marketing, intramural sports, club sports, and/or fitness/wellness programming, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Master's degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Sports Administration, or related field. Experience supervising professional staff. Knowledge and experience overseeing risk management, budgets, and marketing of programming. Knowledge and experience in the implementation of a nationally or academically recognize customer service model.

Campus Recreation directs the Outdoor Adventure Center which includes ropes course featuring high and low ropes elements, disc golf course, bike repair shop, and newly added bike trail. 2017 will be an exciting year for this position as Campus Recreation we opened in April our newest expansion project of an outdoor MAC Court facility and break ground on a new Tennis facility. These projects are part of the first phase of expansion for Campus Recreation, with a building expansion of weight room and cardio space schedule to begin construction in approximately three years.
