The Program Coordinator of Facilities will provide leadership and expertise in facility management and maintenance of the day to day operations for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Campus Recreation indoor and outdoor facilities. These operations include training, hiring, scheduling, and the development of approximately 35 student employees, enforcement of departmental and university policies & standards, dealing with patron conflict resolution, and coordination of space between informal recreation and reserved events. Typical work day is 8 AM to 5 PM M-F with required work on occasional weekends managing events throughout the year, and serving as the first responder regarding facility issues on the evenings and weekends as necessary.
This position reports to the Director of Campus Recreation
This position supervises a student Facilities Program Assistant, approximately 25 student operations managers, and 10 student building managers
Examples of Work Performed
Provides leadership and direction for student employees and programs that are designed to provide positive leisure and informal recreation opportunities for students
Oversee daily operations: monitor facility and equipment usage, conduct inspections and risk management assessments, develop and implement systems, and oversee maintenance and repair needs.
Track maintenance of facilities and equipment and make recommendations on timeline for replacement.
Performs other duties that support the mission of Campus Recreation and the Division of Administration and Finance
Assists the Program Coordinator of Aquatics and Special Events Fitness in the maintenance of aquatics facilities to include safety, sanitation, physical and mechanical pool filtration systems, and pool boilers
Coordinate with Facilities Services on athletic field turf management programs and systems
Facility Maintenance and Operations:
Serves as the point person for the department on facilities operations matters, work-orders and special projects, providing daily support and expected guidelines for oversight of indoor and outdoor facility maintenance
Assists the Program Coordinator of Membership & Communications in maintaining all facility schedules and calendars and further developing facility reservation procedures
Serves as the department liaison to Public Safety and the Dean of Students Office regarding facility patron issues
Provide support to the Program Coordinator of Outdoor Programs & Trails regarding trails system planning, construction, development, maintenance, and working with Facilities Services as well as outside vendors, designers, and construction companies
Coordinate with Facilities Services as the liaison for custodial, grounds, and building trades services for all Campus Recreation facilities
Supervision & Advisement:
Recruitment, selection, training, supervision, payroll and evaluation of 35+ student employees
Establishes conflict management guidelines for membership disputes
Fiscal & Resource Management:
Manage payroll budget for 35+ students and an operations/supply budget of $50,000
Work with professional staff to evaluate the need for new facility and event equipment including fitness center equipment, and when necessary research and gather data to assist with the procurement process
Maintains and provides follow up on all department documented incident and accident reports related to injuries, facility operations, policies, security, parking, and conduct issues
Serves as the primary safety and risk manager for department facilities and supports the Program Coordinator of Aquatics & Special Events in program risk management
Lead the development, training, updates, and evaluation of the Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center Emergency Action Plan (EAP) as it relates to facility operations
Collaborate with UCCS Risk Management, Legal Counsel, Emergency Management and Environmental Health and Safety departments

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND 2–3 years of demonstrated experience in recreation facility administration/management in a full-time professional staff capacity; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Six months of facility management experience for large, high traffic environments
Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of start date
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
5+ years of facilities operations experience in Campus Recreation
Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) and/or Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
Instructor Trainer for First Aid, CPR, AED
Facility Manager Certification
Demonstrated professional involvement with organizations such as NIRSA, NRPA, NASPA or ACPA or related field
