Job Purpose: This position will develop, plan, and implement comprehensive aquatics and GIT FIT programs. Ensure the diverse instructional needs of the Campus Recreation Complex (CRC) are met with broad-based aquatic & fitness programming, emphasizing a safe, positive, and educational environment. Develop, establish, administer, and evaluate all Aquatic & Fitness schedules and instructors. Collaborate with other departments in developing events to support the mission of Campus Recreation Complex.
Coordinate, develop, implement, schedule, supervise, and evaluate comprehensive aquatic and fitness programs.
Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of part-time and student instructors, trainers, and massage therapists. Collect and track required certifications and agreements required for instructors and independent contractors.
Develop new programs to attract, retain, and serve members, assist with recruitment of program participants, and promote the overall Campus Recreation program.
Develop and manage program budgets as well as monitor payroll of instructional staff. Prepare and maintain documentation to support programs and facilities, including payroll and supply inventories.
Create, implement, market, and evaluate special events, recruitments, and monthly messaging campaign. Collaborate with the marketing department to produce marketing materials across all available mediums.
Serve as a venue representative for aquatic events, GIT FIT special programs, and department-wide events. Includes event logistics and reserving facilities for activities, classes, and events.
Develop metrics and track program participation in faculty, staff, alumni, and student recreation program. Design and distribute program surveys on a semester basis, monitor class participation and compile data for analysis. Utilize data and assessment strategies for decision making. Assist various departments in preparing and tracking program participation, budgets, and other areas/activities pertaining to the CRC as needed.
Disseminate necessary information to staff including bi-weekly updates and regularly-planned staff meetings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Information: Physical demands may require standing and walking for extended lengths of time and many require lifting, pushing, pulling, moving, and carrying up to 50 pounds (unassisted) and 75 pounds (with assistance).
Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Management and staff in CRC and other Georgia Tech units, students, members, and visiting groups. This position typically will advise and counsel: Students and part-time staff This position will supervise: Swim instructors, fitness instructors, and other assigned staff.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Kinesiology/Exercise Science Health, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Experience: Two to three years of swimming instruction or personal training related experience or a combination of both.
Certifications: CPR/AED and First-Aid certification or within 30 days upon hire
Skills: Must have working knowledge of fitness and aquatic industries, and be aware of current trends in fitness and well-being. Must be well organized and able to prioritize work, problem solve, make decisions, and meet scheduled deadlines under pressure. Must be able to follow oral and written direction and follow projects through to completion. Experience with building cooperative working relationships with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff. Experience in the development of new programmatic initiatives in conjunction with other units on campus. Strong written, verbal and group communication skills are required. Must possess proficient computer skills and ability to learn new software programs. Ability to gather and organize data, draw logical conclusions, and discern implications.

Preferred Certifications: National Certification in ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists), or Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Certification preferred
Preferred Skills: Knowledge, experience, and expertise in aquatic programming such as learn to swim and group lessons. Exercise physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, nutrition, strength training, health/fitness assessments, personal training, and group fitness knowledge and experience. Previous experience in a management/leadership position supervising instructors. Experience within a campus recreation setting. Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and supervise personnel.
