Under general supervision, the Facility Coordinator will provide appropriate on site supervision for all Campus Recreation facilities to include: customer service functions, monitoring and maintaining access and security systems, employee supervision, and risk management; with the goal of providing participants with meaningful out of the class room experiences.
Supervise the operations of all Campus Recreation facilities to include: Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center, Blatt Physical Education Center, Blossom Street Tennis Courts, Wheat Street Tennis Courts, Alpine Tower / Challenge Course, and recreation fields. Duties include: customer service, event management, completion of facility use and data upkeep, operation of security and access systems, and staff supervision.
Assist the Assistant Director of Facilities with selecting and developing over 200 student employees.
Operate and maintain security / access systems to include: responding to alarms, arming and disarming systems, and system trouble shooting.
Coordinate event setup and management for intramural sports, sport clubs, unstructured recreation, and special events,
Provide leadership training and development for designated students and student groups.
The Facility Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of Facilities. The Facility Coordinator functions with a high degree of discretion, flexibility, initiative, adaptability, and self-motivation. The Facility Coordinator will at times be the senior Campus Recreation staff member on site.
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sport Management, PE or related field of study with a minimum of two years of recreational or fitness facility experience.
Experience in supervision of student employees, athletic equipment setup and operation, facility supervision, and operation of security / access systems is highly desirable
This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies. In addition, this position requires a variable work schedule which includes early mornings and/or evenings, as well as weekends, and the ability to attend on and off campus events.
Must possess a current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification or acquire one prior to hire date.

The Office of Campus Recreation maintains two facilities on campus enclosing 400,000 square feet of space: The Solomon Blatt Physical Education Center and the newer Strom Thurmond Wellness & Fitness Center. Each facility is located adjacent to an outdoor field complex, offering a total of 8 multipurpose fields. Development is currently underway for additional outdoor programming space.
